Throughout his high school life John had to work to help support his family. His job was at a paper mill. The work was hard and backbreaking. “There was injuries everyday, people just toughed it out because you had” said John Weston. In the beginning the shop did not do to well but John was determined and put everything he had into the shop. “The hard work and will to never give up on your dreams was what kept his shop open,” said Jackie Silveri. The shop had eventually taken off and become very popular. The repair shop had taught John a lot about not doubting yourself and staying positive.
John married his wife Kathleen Weston on May 16, 1963. They had six children. Four of which were girls and two were boys. John continued to work to support his wife and family. “He was always doing something to help the family out or to better the children’s lives,” said Kathleen Weston. Stories range from killing snakes to spending the evening watching his children.
Even after his children had grown up and moved out John was always close just in case. John use to spend day after day with his grandson, teaching him things from carpentry to cars. This time spent together meant a lot to his grandson and the skills learned were priceless. In addition, he had given his grandson life lessons that he has taken with him for the rest of his
