Humans have fought and suffered for rights such as voting, slavery, gender equality, racial equality, etc. to just wanting to see a slight change to know that their hopes of one day an equal world are being heard. Although there have been many activists throughout history and in modern times, an impactful figure who demonstrated his passion for improving the treatment of humanity and the rights that humans deserve was Linus Pauling. As WW2 started to escalate, Linus Pauling found this as an opportunity to aid those in need, especially during the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Witnessing those events deeply impacted his path as a scientist and activist and started to become heavily concerned about the effects that these atomic bombs could have on humanity. Along with these concerns, the Manhattan Project also impacted his views, leading him closer to his advancements in politics and changes in human rights. Both these historical events left an everlasting impact on history as they marked the technological innovation and potential created by many scientists.
