In this essay, I will be explaining how Manzanar tore the Wakatsuki family apart. The family had to go to an internment camp because the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and all the Japanese Americans had to be unfairly relocated.
Going to Manzanar tore the Wakatsuki family apart because they were not the same family during or after the camp. During their time in Manzanar the family started getting into arguments more and once Papa got back he started drinking a lot and abusing Mama with his cane.
Before Manzanar the family was really close and were singing in the living room but once Papa got arrested the family got really down and Mama didn’t talk and cried a lot. When the family first got to Manzanar they tried to stay together and be strong
