Once upon a time there were two different areas for two groups of people, white skinned people and colored skin people. That was the time people whose skin color that wasn’t white were discriminated. Due to Jim Crow Laws during 1890 - 1954, people with different ethnic groups did not have the same luxurious things white people had. Many had troubles, but Marian Anderson managed to fight through this discrimination and became a regular member of New York City’s Metropolitan Opera. Marian Anderson faced many barriers, or problems, on her road to fame like a shortage of resources and money and discrimination, but she was able to overcome those barriers by support from friends and determination.
