Nathan Bedford Forrest was a Lieutenant General during the Civil War. He was born on July 13, 1821 in Marshall County (Chapel Hill), Tennessee. When he was 16 years old, his father, who was a blacksmith, died. When his dad died, he helped his mother and his 5 brothers. By 1845, he married Mary Ann Montgomery.
