Throughout the history of the Scottish literature, many authors have written pieces of literature that have been significant in the lives of the Scottish people. Sir Walter Scott, a famous Scottish novelist, wrote many plays, novels and short stories in his career as an author and a playwright. Sir Scott wrote one of his finest novels at the height of his career. Ivanhoe was a success for the First Baronet Scott, because of the many themes that characterised the story and also the novel has its elegant blend of history, romance, religious conflicts between Christians and Jews and also creating suspenseful scenes in that story. Scott was inspired writing Ivanhoe for three reasons. First, he was inspired by writing of the medieval history of his native country of Scotland. Second, he conglomerated both history and romance into the story so that readers would be interested in the story so that it could create a romantic feeling. Third, Scott wanted to write Ivanhoe so that readers could learn history in a different way.
