When the Englishmen came to settle in the new world they established colonies. Soon these colonies grew, and with that happening they took on different societies. When slaves came into play in the colonies there were more useful in some places then others. In the northern and southern colonies slaves was used for many different things. Here are reason why slavery differ in the south and north colonies. The North was largely a developing industrial society so they had less need for the manual labor provided by slaves. The northern colonies used slaves for mainly helping around the house by being a maid, driver, or midwife.
