The 1920s “roared” for women in Canada. Firstly, women started to be treated equally to men and got more voting rights. In 1921, women got the right to vote in federal elections and in provincial elections in all provinces except Quebec, and it was the first time women over the age of twenty one could vote and run for political office in the federal election. This allowed women to have a voice and power like men did. Secondly, Women started to get involved in politics. Agenes Macphail was the first women to sit as a member in the Parliament until 1935. Macphail had to deal with gender discrimination from her male colleagues, but since she was a strong women, in 1930, women students voted Agenes Macphail the women they most wanted to be like.
