A black raven, one so humongous and ominous, flies in through your window, perching itself on your door, croaking the word, “Nevermore” while managing to ooze terror into your soul. This is exactly what happens in the poem, “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe. A man, who is alone on the darkest of night; reminiscing about his lost love, is suddenly bombarded by a Raven who seems intent on scaring the man, creating a mood of suspense and blood curling fear. Though in “The Simpsons” version, the Raven is portrayed as a cute and small bird that is annoying and irritating. The suspense and fear that was subjected into the reader from the poem has now vanished and the mood is changed. The Simpsons changed the mood of the poem by adding a humorous touch.
