How Did Thomas Hobbes Hold Absolute Power

In response to the English Revolution, Thomas Hobbes and John Locke, two political philosophers, wrote on their beliefs of how governments should be formed and power handled. These two men hold very different views in the way authority should be kept and the rights humans should be endowed. Locke practiced his beliefs of life, liberty, and property; also exercising the right for humans to revolt against a government if one has felt that an injustice had been done. Hobbes however, believed that the government should be the one to hold absolute power due to humans’ selfish nature. Also stating within his believes that power should lie within the government in order to suppress rebellions and control the ways of others to shy away from corruption.
