His parents wanted him to go the paths of what the rest of the family did, as an art dealer, or a missionary. To them, becoming an artist represented social failure. During this time, van Gogh thought he found the love of his life, but she really didn’t want anything to do with him, although he persisted. Many of his painting were held in a memorial exhibition, having the critics describe his works as, “the most striking”. He is often referred to as the “Mad artist”, and regarded as, “ one of the most popular post-impressionist painters”. (Vincent van Gogh: Critical Reception) Even though van Gogh received some attention, it wasn’t until after his suicide he began to become a big success. All of his fame rose, and he is currently admired all around the world. To all the great, and inspiring things he has done, there is a Vincent van Gogh museum dedicated in his memoir. (Breunesse,26) “Van Gogh has influenced generations of young artists worldwide since his time.” (Vincent van Gogh Gallery) When he was alive, there were many times where he inspired himself. Van Gogh’s typically created his masterpieces with dark colors, and then he was inspired by impressionism art, and began playing around with bright, bold colors. Using impressionism, he helped it become more popular, influencing people from all around. Nearly after 100 years after van Gogh’s death, his artwork is still being released. In 2013, “Sunset at Montmajour”, was discovered and released at the Vincent van Gogh Museum. It was an incredible discovery, and never happened in the record of the
