How Does A Major Crime Cause To A Driver's Incarceration?

Driving is considered a privilege. With this privilege comes traffic violations. A traffic violation is when a driver breaks the driving laws placed by the state/country when driving their automobile. There are two types of traffic violations: major and minor. Major traffic violations include infractions such as vehicular manslaughter, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, or driving under the influence. Minor traffic violations are crimes that deal with running a red light, driving a vehicle with no car insurance, or speeding. Both types of traffic violations can lead to drivers sentenced approximately thirty days, six months, or even year in jail. Why is that? Also, why does a major crime like having a suspended license lead to a driver’s incarceration? Money, suspension, and absence are causes of a lengthy sentencing involving minor traffic offenses.

These citations are commonly referred to as “traffic tickets”. Depending on the violation, it is mandatory offenders appear in court. Failing to move over one lane while an officer has someone pulled over alongside the road is a perfect example. There will be a set price in which the offender will pay on their ticket(s). However, every offender cannot handle their ticket cost as well as their court fees.
If it is imperative to appear in court, violators must be in court at the time and date given on their notice. However, not everyone shows up for their court date. Whether it be their working or no transportation. In Georgia, failing to appear in court will lead to the judge putting out a warrant for defendant’s arrest. After this takes place, the violator must sit in jail until there is a rescheduled court date. Suspension of their driver’s license is a result of unpaid court fees or being absence in court.
