Not only did he have the determination and skill to conquer multitudes of people, but he also had mercy and compassion enough to let innocent people go. He spared the life of a Theban woman because he liked the driven fire in her, as well as let lots of men, women, and children free in many cities after he had beaten the city’s army in battle. It takes more than just advanced military techniques to be great, and ALexander the Great possessed all characteristics of that title. In document two, it states that Alexander had given the problematic Theban people three days to stop their unnecessary uprising before he decided he needed to knock them down a few pegs by conquering them.
