How Does Creon Betray Family

Family can be a defender, but they can also be your betrayer. As in Thebes where I had grown up I had finally seen what it was like to be betrayed by my own family who I always thought would be by my side. After the fate of my parents and my brothers fighting in a civil war against each other, my suffering and my unfortunate fate derived from one person, Creon the king of Thebes and my uncle. My unfortunate fate and misery arose from Creon’s law for binding my brother to be buried, my stubbornness, and conflict with Creon. To begin with, when my brothers, Polynices and Eteocles, had died in a war fighting each other for who would get claim to the throne, it ended in both their deaths. When they had died, I had expected them to get buried. Creon surprisingly had decided not to allow one of them to get buried, Polynices because he was the person who had waged war on Thebes because of his ambition to get the throne. …show more content…
Additionally, Creon had ordered that if anyone broke this law they would be stoned to death. However, I decided to break his law because it was unfair that one of my brothers had gotten buried, but the other one was left to rot and get eaten by eagles outside of Thebes. Nevertheless, Creon would not see this as unjust because in his eyes he would see this as a way to punish betrayer of Thebes and to encourage people not to follow in the steps of Polyncies. He also pushes this law to assert his dominance over Thebes, as he is a new ruler he demands respect. However, this is wrong as it is an injustice for my brother to get treated differently. It is also the tradition of the gods to have the deceased people
