There are many diverse cultural identities that people think of when discussing cultural diversity. However, there is one that people generally overlook because when one hears, the word disabled or disability a person often envisions the negative. Individuals with disabilities often must deal with this negativity by way of overcoming the stereotypes and stigma that come with the term disability. Disabilities have no limit to whom they can affect; they can affect individuals without consideration of a person’s race, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, economy status, age or religion. Disabilities can range from mild to severe; they can affect a person in numerous ways. Some individuals may be affected by disabilities physically, mentally, emotionally or they may be learning disabled. Individuals with disabilities may be born with them, or a person may become disabled at any time throughout their lives.
