How Does Dickens Present Scrooge In Great Expectations

Dickens presents Scrooge’s happiness in this extract through the idea of a second chance as Scrooge is spared and allowed to amend his previous ways. This results in him being overjoyed and overwhelmed with happiness.

Dickens portrays Scrooge as a transformed man who is hungry for redemption as he experiences what will happen if he continues to live the way he is currently living. Scrooge repeats “I will live in the past, the present, and the future”, this shows his willingness to change and this goes to show how his character has developed and goes from a miser to a happy man who can not contain his happiness as he is on his knees and thanks the Lord and Christmas for their mercy.
