On Yom Kippur people were fasting but Elie had other plans “I no longer accepted God’s silence. As I swallowed my ration of soup, I turned that act into of rebellion, of protest against Him.” (page 69). He was not going to fast that night because like before in the book he said that food was his life now. This is because he wants to live and be able to keep going and see the people who did this to him, his family, and all the people that died or suffered to pay. Like he said in the quote he no longer accepted God’s silence. So his faith has been destroyed by all of the actions and pain he has witnessed.
Through these chapters a lot has happened to Elie. Elie’s faith changed a lot; just in the beginning is faith was dwindling fast.
