She is writing about how books are being ripped up and used for ammunition. She is watching the war unfold and wants to write about what is happening. Hilda says “Yet give us, they still cry, give us books” (Doolittle 9.9-10). Even though people are going around and gathering as many books as they can so they can have bullets. There are still people who care about the books. The author thinks that books are cherished and some people were hurt when they burned the books but, in Fahrenheit 451 it was more casual to burn the books. They did not make it as big of a deal in Fahrenheit 451 to ruin the book as they did in The Walls Do Not
