This proves chapter one of “ How to Read Literature Like a Professor”, Huck is the quester,he seeks on the river,freedom from civilization and his father. Besides a quester there is “a place to go” in which at first was Jackson’s Island’s but turned into the Ohio River so Jim could be a free slave. Next, the reason as to go there is to find freedom. Jim solely runs away because he does not wish to be separated from his family due to being sold in New Orleans,this is why he runs away and seeks asylum in the free states. As for Huck, Huck wishes to distance himself from having to be civilized and from his drunken,abusive father,this is why he fakes his death and sails off. Throught his voyage he faces many obstacles and challenges that affect the time of his route and destination. Jim had a massive effect on Huck’s original plan,once Jim joined the destination changed completely. Huck faces fake kings and dukes to people at war,yet all the challenges teach him something and mature the person he was. At the end, Huck has changed,he is no longer an ignorant young boy,his quest was a path to change and maturity. His quest no longer represented the quest for freedom but the quest to change within
