It really hit a spot for her and Jem but, she did not react to it. When Scout and Jem got into a little fight because she would not shut up she said something nice to him. She said “This looks like you” and she was holding a magazine of a football player. It shows maturity right there because she’s the little sister trying to cheer up her big brother. She was responsible for her own actions. When they went back to Mrs.Dubose house they come in and the first thing that she says is “So you brought that dirty little sister of yours, did you?” Scout didn’t say anything because it would be disrespectful to talk back her but, her brother did and that was a bad choice. Scout respects her because her father respects her. This shows maturity because she is following in her dad's footsteps. This takes a huge impact on Scout because she never knew why Mrs. Dubose was like this until this chapter. When Scout finds out that Mrs. Dubose is a morphine addict she takes this in a mature way by being nicer to her even though she’s rude. Scout and Jem started to feel bad because of her condition and Scout takes this as inconsideration because she feels bad for the ill lady. This chapter tells you how important maturity
