Joe Clark uses the principle of pathos many times throughout the film. In one particular scene, the most memorable of the movie, he gathers the school population in song. The music teacher leads the auditorium in a rendition of the touching song Lean on Me, and by the end you are left a little teary eyed. This plays on the idea of hope and a sense on a solidarity between the staff and students. The song proves that the school can come together for a greater good. In the beginning of the movie Joe Clark upon initially meeting the staff of the school, asserts himself as the leader. He yells at the staff for talking while he is. This appeals to the emotion
