In this story, life lessons are taught through inequality and differences. Scout is taught about inequality by her father, brother and peers. This is shown through Atticus as he is defending a black man in court and consequentially, the other students are giving her grief about his role in the case. The students are obviously adding to this because they are the ones giving her grief. Her brother teaches inequality through his own experiences that Scout has been witnessing at his side, such as when he is forced to read to Mrs. Dubose for more than the one-month deadline Atticus gave him. All of these things lead to the idea of inequality in the story. These characters do the best job at building the idea of inequality and teaching Scout life
