In Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey, Odysseus is a person who demonstrates his leadership qualities of loyalty and courage throughout the text. In the story, “The Sirens: Scylla and Charybdis,” Odysseus uses his knowledge from Circe and warns his men of Siren and instructs them to wear beeswax to prevent them from hearing the music, and to tie Odysseus so that he can hear the music, but not cause any trouble. As Odysseus and his men were sailing, “The lovely voices in ardor appealing over the water made me crave to listen, and I tried to say ‘Untie me!’ to the crew, jerking my brows; but they bent steady to the oars” (Homer lines 752-755). Throughout this event, he uses the leadership quality of trust as he puts his faith in his crew members
