One thing that all animals need whether human or not is exercise. This keeps your muscles use to the stress put on everyday actions such as swimming for swimming. In fact orcas swim on average 100 miles a day in wildlife environments. However, in SeaWorld there isn’t a huge ocean for them to swim in, and instead are put into a small tank which is significantly smaller in comparison. SeaWorld employee Fred Jacobs reacted to this claim by saying that “swimming (100 miles) is not integral to a whale’s health and well-being. It is likely foraging behavior.” SeaWorld has also installed a treadmill into the orca tanks, but nothing could beat the openness and freedom of the ocean where they belong. …show more content…
They have shown a deep relationship with family members and often swim in packs with each other. These relationships are quickly torn apart however by SeaWorld capturing them, placing them in tanks and forcing them to socialize with strangers. This is traumatizing to orcas and shows that SeaWorld mistreats the orcas they’ve captured and don’t understand how an orcas natural habitat
