Slavery fully explain the meaning of dehumanization. All human being should be respect to each other’s, but slaves live in a lower class while slave holders were in a higher class. The unequal rights shared to different groups of people will create unfair to disadvantage group of people that they face high risk of physical cruelty situation. As Frederick Douglass recounts, some White boys were said “it was worth a half-cent to kill a 'nigger,' and a half-cent to bury one” in Maryland (Chapter 4). There were several slaves were killed by White slave holders; however, a few of murderers just received light sentence and most of them were not even prosecuted or punished. Basically, killing a slave was usually not considered as criminal offense
