Speck’s story does not end there, however. While in prison, he continued to engage in crime. He took illegal female hormones and drugs continuously throughout his time in prison. Speck also regularly engaged in sexual conduct with other male prisoners. Despite nearly being subjected to capital punishment, Speck still held no remorse for his crimes. As stated by the man himself, “‘It just wasn't their night’... ‘If you are asking if I felt sorry, no’”. On December 5, 1991, Speck suffered from a severe heart attack and died. He was only twenty-five years into his life sentence, of which he did not serve nearly enough to compensate for the eight innocent lives that he took decades earlier.
