I would use the words heartless and uncivilized to describe the short story Of Mice & Men written by John Steinbeck. I chose the heartless to describe Steinbeck's’ short story due to the miss treatment of Lennie. A time would be when Curley attacks Lennie and he was made fight even though he pleads not to fight back. Lennie has the mind of a child so he doesn't understand, this causes me to feel like someone should have stood up for him. Another time would be when Carlson shot Candy’s dog. Candy should have been able to decide if his dog was going to be put down or not. Carlson practically forces Candy to agree with him and then simply takes the dog out and shoots it. Lennie is constantly referred to as an animal, which strikes me as uncivilized.
