Ashley Graham uses the media as a platform to open the eyes of individuals who neglect to establish their own identity whilst seeking affirmation from society. As time progresses, individuals within today's culture are losing grasp of taking an distinctive path towards discovering who they are as they instead, have become dependent on the opinion of others to mold their path towards discovering one's identity. Susan Orbach expresses her observation upon the rising identity crisis issue. By mentioning the multiple sources of finding this ïmage¨ such as a newspapers, television, and magazines, Orbach brings to light the fact that there is no picture representing womanhood. She expresses the idea that women put forth so much wasted effort to find themselves in the most perfect way, a way accepted by society, especially men, that they become invisible to how many standards they have confirmed to. Their identities are lost in every magazine paper page turned, every newspaper skimmed, and every tv commercial seen. In addition, Ashley Graham addresses identity in an interview as she shares her story of struggling to find acceptance from society but choose to rebel against set standards, through her body. Graham shared, ¨I have come into a world that has been only accepting of thin bodies, of fit bodies, and saying women of my size aren’t fit. But I truly believe...that we can look beyond… beyond the stereotype of what fit can actually be¨ (Body Activist and Model). Graham recognizes through first hand experience as a model that there is a specific body stereotype, ¨skinny¨ and ¨fit,¨ within today's culture
