How have satellites been beneficial to humans?

A satellite is an artificial object that orbits a planet or star. A satellite is referred to a machine that is in space and moves around the earth or another planet. For example the moon is the Earth’s natural satellite. However the Earth also has many other artificial satellites in orbit. These however have been built by people and placed into orbit using rockets. A satellite receives radio signal that have been transmitted from the transmitting Earth station in an uplink and resends the signals back down to the receiving Earth station in a downlink.1
The artificial satellites in orbit around the Earth have different orbits, for example satellites in lower orbits, travel faster than the satellites in higher orbits. The higher orbits take longer to make one orbit. …show more content…
They take around 90 minutes to make one orbit.2 While the Earth is spinning and the satellite moves, it then can scan the whole Earth’s surface. And the satellites have uses such as monitoring the weather, military spying, and observing the Earth’s surface.
Then there are also the geostationary satellites, they are in orbit above the equator and they take one day to make one orbit because their orbit is much longer. Therefor they stay in a fixed position over the Earth’s surface and have therefor also different uses compared to the satellites in low polar orbits. These satellites are used for communication, for example TV, telephone, navigation systems and
