Before the 9/11 attack you were allowed to bring at least a 4 inch blade on the plane they were hard to detect without stronger metal detectors.Baseball bats,box cutters,darts knitting needles and scissors were also allowed on board. And also people were bringing liquids on board which god banned because people were making liquid explosives. But since the 9/11 attack the security checkpoints have taken up at least ⅔ of the floor. In that specific airport they have added something new which is an x ray machine. And something else that they have is bomb detector so know one can obviously sneak a bomb on the plane. Lots of other airports have had to shoehorn some of the new equipment into some of the ticket counter areas or jam them into corridors. They pay undercover security guards to board the planes since so many people are trying or planning on hijacking a plane.
