How Is Puritan Americans Different From The Colonial Period?

The Colonial period I think is a lot different than things are these days. Not only do people act different than they did back then, but the way things are done are also a lot different. Religion, poetry, and the way people live is much different, at least through my eyes. One thing that was done differently than it is these days is politics and the government. Back then, it seemed as though people looked to God more for guidance than they did to the government. Although that is completely different than it is today, the political parties are little different. Puritans and rationalists were the big two groups in the 1800s. Puritans were people who believed everything was done by God, and that everything they did was under the choice of God. Rationalists, on the other hand, were a little different. These were people who believed that God created the world, but the decisions these people made were decided by them, and not by God. Back then, it was more common for males to attend school and get an education, while the girls stayed home and helped their mother around the house and helped with chores. Many families lived on farms and the males also helped their fathers tend to the garden and any animals they had. Families back then seemed to be more connected and do things more as a family, where some families these days depend on technology to communicate and don’t always get along with their families. Although it isn’t uncommon for neighbors to talk and do things together in this century, it seemed to be more common in the Colonial time period.
