How Is Scrooge Presented In The Christmas Carol

Dickens presents Scrooge as a redeemed character in the last chapter of the Christmas Carol. Scrooge is first presented in stave one as an unpleasant character who only cares about his own wealth but at the end of stave five he is shown as anthropic and caring about others around him.

In stave one, Scrooge is presented as “squeezing, wrenching, grasping, clutching, covetous old sinner”. Dickens portrays a vivid imagery of what type of person Scrooge is. The words “Covetous “ and “sinner” are associated with the Bible and mean people who go against the word of God and are greedy for material goods.
