This short story expresses three principal trends, one can identify through a close reading of the text. Primarily, one can take away from this text that everyone in society, human or animal, conforms. It is not always evident that conformation is occurring, but it happens everywhere in civilization. In this story, Red Peter was conforming to human society to his advantage and gain. Conforming to others can just be wearing clothes or hairstyles that peers are wearing because it is appealing. Or following typical generalizations like drinking alcohol, similar to how Red Peter started drinking Schnapps. Conformity happens everywhere, even if one does not realize it. The influence humans have on each other is extremely strong and one can see that
