Hurricanes are the most overwhelming natural disaster affecting the Earth today. As people face a hurricane the only thing that people can do is run. Hurricanes can attack and harm people in different ways; they can kill people or even leave them homeless. All around the world Hurricanes do not only affect the United States, but other countries around the world. In Australia they are known as Willy Willies, and in the Pacific these storms are known as typhoons. Hurricanes that start in the Indian Ocean are known as Cyclones. As the East Coast of the U.S.A examines the destruction of hurricane Katrina and Sandy, comparisons have been made to each other, both storms were devastating to the thousands who lost their homes and live hoods.

Warnings give people time to stock up on food supplies and to move to safer locations. Also we should be prepared with First Aid Kits and have a couple around the house. We should also have one or two First Aid Kit in the car if for some reason we have to relocate from where we are. Having water, prepared food, flashlights, a radio, extra batteries are good things to have in mind. Another good idea would be to carry other items such as copies of personal documents, charged phones, emergency contact information, extra money, and clothing. Families can also search for local shelters that their cities might have or talk to local authorities of what to do just in case a hurricane happens or any storm (American Red Cross). In conclusion, hurricanes have a negative impact on the environment. It has affected many lives. There are many more things we can do individually and as a community. We must be prepared for the next one. Since I live in New Jersey hopefully for the next hurricane I myself will be prepared with a first aid kit and other personal items. Hopefully many more people in the community can do the
