Animal testing is a scientific experiment where a live animal undergoes suffering by injecting and force feeding the innocent animal with potentially harmful substances to test if their product will be safe and effective on humans.
Around 12 million animals are used in these tests every year. Animal testing costs a lot of money at around 16 billion dollars a year to be fed, housed, cared for and treated with experimental drugs. Why do companies still test products using animals when they know it’s inhumane and uses lots of money. 92% of the tests that pass animal tests fail human trials because it either too dangerous or doesn’t work. Tests they conduct on animals consist of Skin sensitization where they apply the …show more content…
One woman had such severe burns that she died due to an infection.
Animal testing was sometimes successful but mostly found cures for the animals cancers instead of human illnesses. We may share some illnesses and our bodies may function alike but we are not fully alike why do they think an animal like a cat can be used to model a human is this all worth it when there are alternative ways that work, costs way less and doesn’t harm animals.
There is now a lot of different alternatives such as computer models that can replicate a human body which can be used to conduct virtual experiments based on existing information and Mathematical data. Another alternative is where they can grow human skin in a laboratory and grow it into a 3D structure and can provide a more realistic way to test
