My interest is in stewardship and equity in governance. I am an outgoing person working to advance the capabilities and knowledge of our communities. We all need the privilege to pursue one’s dreams without the hindrance of injustice and corruption. I don’t consider myself a person of prestige, although, it is a privilege to pursue this work. We need to help one another and work together.
Not until I earned my apprenticeship certification from the Olympia Beekeepers Association, was I aware that the honey bee is considered a non-indigenous species to the North American Continent. I became interested in the honey bee after learning about Colony Collapse Disorder. Working toward a journeyman beekeeper status, my outreach group and I are helping the plight of the honey bee by promoting pollinator awareness and advancing the use of public green spaces in order to support environmental health and our local community.
We established contact with the Olympia Airport and negotiated the installation of bee hives. Currently our collaborative effort is advertising and auctioning our honey, and the proceeds are being donated in support of SafePlace, a local woman’s shelter. Although, a small, …show more content…
The last official contract I managed was for the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) in its Olympic Region. My crew and I, installed eight data collection sites. Being responsible for crew safety, assignment, and equipment installation and configuration were informal practicing participative management and open communication. My desire for accountability and stewardship guide my actions. Although, we completed the project under budget and a week early, I did find myself reprimanding a crew member for improper accounting
