Imagine driving on the road and having to pull over for sirens. You continue and you see a car crash. You see somebody on the ground bleeding and another car in the ditch. You pull over to see if anyone is hurt and you see someone you know in the other car or your family member. The officers tell you the person who hit your relative was on their phone. How would you react to this? Distracted driving can increase a person's crash risk by 8 to 9% just by taking your eyes off the road.
