Journal Entry 4
During this observation, I sat with the students for two hours. They had just woken up from their nap and they were getting prepared for a snack. The routine that Tranae does for the class after their nap is make each individual go use the restroom and wash their hands before snack. The children are always so excited when it comes to having their snack. I asked them what do they consider to be their favorite snack. They let me know it was cheese puffs. During snack time, all the kids insist on attempting to feed me and share their cheese puffs. They were really excited that I sat with them during snack time. After snack time, Tranae requested for me to read the children a story. All the children were excited and wanted to each pick out a book. I sat on the mat with them and they surround me and let me read a few stories to them. After a few books, the children loss interest and started to wonder off and play in the class room. While they played, I had an opportunity to speak with Tranae and ask her questions. I asked her about her requirements to have a certain curriculum. She advised that she has to complete her lesson plans a month in advance and they have to have certain things on it to complete the expectations. …show more content…
Tranae advised that this is why she ensures that she goes off her lesson plans to make sure that the children are learning. The children have an everyday routine that gives a certain time to do strictly lessons that are planned for the week. Tranae also sends home each child’s progress for the day so the parents are aware of what the child is doing or how the child is behaving. She says that she finds this to be effective because the parents are aware of what the child needs help on and is able to assist with what the child needs to improve
