While studying for HNC Care and Administrative Practice I have gained independent learning skills due to researching relevant topics that will support me while undertaking my Midwifery studies such as NMC Code of Conduct and Principles. I feel that my compassion has benefitted me while shadowing the care worker during my placement and I have gained skills such as reflective practice, monitoring individual’s observations and basic care techniques. Although my College course does not cover specifics such as water births, I would love to specialise within this sector once qualified. This is an interest of mine due to opposing views regarding the safety and how the effects of being immersed in water has increased the pleasure of the women’s experience during birth. …show more content…
I gained transferable skills during my training where I also learned to work as part of a team in demanding situations. This is incredibly useful as being a Midwife requires you to keep calm in stressful and high pressure situations while respecting the needs of families from different backgrounds. As a Deck Cadet I was required to work with people from different backgrounds, cultures, and religions. Working within an international setting I gained effective communication skills which will aid me when working within a team environment ensuring the care of the pregnant women is
