A Rose for Emily.
Emily Rose, an old woman who was found dead in her house. But unfortunately she wasn’t the only dead thing they found, in a room that has never been seen in forty years laid Miss Emily’s lover Homer Barron dead. In the pillow beside the man you could see a mark of a head and there was a long strand of iron-gray hair found.
Miss Emily Grierson’s father dies and the mayor comes up with a tale that her father loaned money to the town and therefore she doesn’t have to pay the taxes, in other words he remitted her taxes. But one day, with new mayors and aldermen, they mailed her a tax notice but she didn’t reply. They wrote her a letter asking her to call the sheriff’s office, but there was no answer so a week later the mayor wrote her himself. Then they decided to go to her house, but without success they were shown out by Miss Emily’s assistant.
Two years after her father’s death it started to smell very bad. Her lover Homer Barron had recently disappeared and almost everybody in the town was convinced that they would get married. People started to complain about the smell and one night four men snuck in Miss Emily’s lawn, sniffing around the base of the house and at the cellar openings. They broke open the cellar door and sprinkled lime there and in all the outbuildings. After about two weeks the smell went away. When Miss Emily was about thirty years old she went to the druggist and asked for some poison, she came out with arsenic. She had also been seen buying jewelry, a man’s toilet set in silver with the letters H.B on each
