1. Identify the operations management problems that Dr. Barr is having at the clinic.
Dr. Barr’s veterinary clinic has evolved from an outpatient medical center for cats and dogs to a sort of pet spa, which includes pet grooming and clinic visits. Dr. Barr did not implement any training for these new services, nor did she make any adjustments to the layout of the business to support these changes. Once the demand for these specialized services increased, Dr. Barr found that it was causing a disruption in the quality of care that was being provided to her clients. This seems to be due to grooming in an open area and improper scheduling.
2. How would you define the “service bundle” currently being offered? How is this different from the initial purpose of the clinic? …show more content…
The current bundle being offered, is not a product of planning, nor does it provided the benefits that traditional grooming would normally offer. Grooming should be in a quiet area, where the pet is alone with the groomer, this helps to calm the pet while providing spa like pet services. The grooming services are being provided in the waiting area, which is causing a disruption in the waiting area. The service bundle is the opposite of the clinics initial focus. However, the idea of a one stop shop for pets is a nice idea. I personally would love to be able to get my dog groomed when I bring her in for her checkup. This would be a great plan if implemented
