Introduction

Identifying a sensory deficit can be difficult, but can also be a chance for personal development and adjustment. It enables people to explore novel approaches to experiencing the world and gain new skills to excel daily (Allen & Kelly, 2019). In my learning journal for unit 4, I plan to delve into the scenario of being diagnosed with a particular sensory deficit disorder. I will examine its implications, discuss the available support systems, and identify coping strategies that can be useful in such situations.

Exploring the Origins of Hearing Loss

Ohgami et al. (2012) state that several factors can lead to hearing loss, including aging, prolonged exposure to loud noises, and genetic predisposition. In my case, I believe a combination of these factors may have contributed to my hearing loss. Nevertheless, I am determined to take a proactive approach to improving my hearing and preventing any further damage. To achieve this, I intend to limit my exposure to loud noises and seek guidance from a healthcare professional for possible treatment or management options.
