In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, Huck, the main character who lives in rural Missouri runs away with a runaway slave. At the beginning of the book we see how Huck is unfamiliar with Jim and treats him how everyone else does. By the end of the book, Huck realized that Jim is a human being also and begins to consider him his friend. When this book took place in the 1800’s, slavery was still going on and referring to blacks or slaves as humans was almost unheard of; however, as the book goes on, Huck becomes more comfortable around Jim as he learns about Jim and his family. Our government is run by a bunch of old white men that are disconnected from the new and changing ideas in America. By having all old men as our leaders it completely eliminates the younger voice from policy because there is little representation. This creates an issue because all of the old people that run our government are out of touch with the young people who will be here when they pass on. How does it make logical sense to have people who are so out of touch with the future controlling our country? Old people claim that by being trapped in their phone all the time, millennials are missing out on the world around them and are losing the art of conversation. However, by being on their phones, millennials are arguably more connected to society around them because they have access to everything around them right at their fingertips. Also, communication has been strengthened because of the instant access to anyone you need at any point in time. By having this source of communication, you are able to effectively get your message across quickly. Isn’t it ironic,though, how old people complain about millennials ruining the world with technology when the man who invented the iPhone, Steve Jobs, was a baby
