Huckleberry Finn Chapter 1 Summary

The adventures of Huckleberry Finn starts off in a small town of st.Petersburg where a young boy named Huckleberry Finn lives with his mother who adopted him. She wanted to raise him and make him into a proper young man because his father is known as the town drunk and Huck never had a decent father to look after him and teach him all these things. Widow Douglas makes him go to church which he hates to do, but he does as she says. He also hated going to school but luckily he has a couple of nice friends to get him through the day. Ben Rogers, Joe Harper, and Tom Sawyer are his friends. Huck and his friends found this treasure from thieves and they split the money. Each of them got six thousand dollars to keep for themselves.

He told the others his name was Sarah Williams and he listened to conversations when he heard a woman talking about his murder. She says that people suspected Huck's father and they tried to lynch him. The woman then continued and said Jim was also a suspect because he escaped the same day that Huck had vanished. Huck then overheard that others are blaming Jim because he happened to of ran away the same day Huck vanished. Huck's father left town and a bounty of two hundred was set on him and also a bounty of three hundred was placed on Jim. Huck then quickly snuck back to Jackson’s Island and told Jim about what happened back in town. The two of them got on a raft they found and headed down the river. They came across a wrecked steamboat and huck went on the boat to see what he can find and as he was creeping through the ship he overheard some thieves talking about killing someone so they won't open their mouth. Huck went back and told Jim to cut the boat loose so the thieves couldn’t get away and then Jim tells him that their own boat got loose and floated down the
