For thousands of years civilizations would resort to death by execution as punishment for serve crimes. The power to decide who should die, should not reside in a humans hand because capital punishment is inhumane. Through nationwide surveys, “Police chiefs” ranked capital punishment the lowest ways to reduce violent crime. (Adams 4). Instead of capital punishment, employing more police officers, and creating a better economy all result in less violent crime and benefits every citizen. There’s nothing to gain by killing a inmate, as it provides no benefit to anymore. The thought that punishment fits the crime, and offenders should suffer as much as the victim does is not always correct. The ability to decide whether or not a human should die is not in our jurisdiction. There’s always the factor of humans never being perfect. Were always going to be subconsciously bias, there will be times when we will make mistakes, and with such flaws, we should not judge whether or not a man dies or lives. “I had spent 8 years, 11 months, and 19 days (including two years on death row) for a crime I did not commit.
