Marguerite Annie Johnson Angelou or better known as, Maya Angelou was born on April 4th (1928) in St. Louse Missouri, which was also the same day Martin Luther King Jr. died. Angelou was a very talented woman as an American author, actress, screenwriter, dancer, poet and civil rights activist. Angelou is mostly known for her memoir she wrote in 1969, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, which was the first non fiction best seller by an African American Woman. She had received many awards throughout her job as a writer including an NAACP Award for her best work within the literary works for nonfiction in 2005 and 2009. Mary had written a poem dedicated to president Bill Clinton in 1993 called 'On the Pulse of Morning'.
