Have you ever wondered why we put salt on roads after a snowstorms? Most people don’t know why we put salt on the ice, they just do it because that’s what they have grown up seeing their parents doing. Doing what you see a group of people doing is called crowd mentality, where you do something because you see a large number of people doing something. Salt effects ice in different ways. The scientist was doing research and she had saw an article on “Mental Floss”. While reading about the history of ice; she learned that before refrigerators people had to use ice to keep all of their food cold. Now people have refrigerators and are able to easily put food inside without thinking twice about it. Before people did not have that ability. Second is ice icebergs. An iceberg is ice that breaks off from a glacier. Then finally is ice floes. Which is ice that breaks off from an iceberg.
