While cultural competency is a difficult topic and even more difficult to achieve, Green has provided several pieces that not only allow for a deeper introspection of ones own identity, but allows them to explore areas that are often disregarded. Most importantly this creates a space to where we can take the time to better understand the relations between our perspectives and the realities of others. The 10 step process of developing cultural sensitivity provides those working with people an opportunity to explore their inner feeling and personal identity, while supporting them. This also allows the individual the opportunity to further understand the identifying aspects that contribute to furthering their cultural competence. As mention in the text, vocabulary surrounding the meaning of identity and culture can vary, increasing the importance of creating awareness through cultural competence and personal misunderstandings to ensure those working with diverse populations are able to acknowledge the shared integrity.
