Idol of the Den The Idol of the Den/Cave derived from personal thoughts of an individuals mind. It requires the greatest caution because corrupts the understanding. Bacon believed this idol required a lot of attention because a individual could create his own agenda without meaning to. Idols of the Den promote self-intererst and indiviulism that creates a bias opion towards nature. In the text Bacon states “ The human underestanding is most excited by which strikes and enter the mind at once, and by which the imagination is immediately filled and inflated” (Bacon 12). The text elaborates what Bacon meant about the mind and personal thoughs ; Bacon believed that a persons experinces could dictate their outlook and affect the way they see
