Imagery and Mood in “A Christmas Memory” In the story “A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote,” there is a lot of imagery that sets the mood and correlates to your senses. Some of the quotes describe how something looks so it makes your brain visualize the thing they are describing. Other quotes use senses such as, touch, smell, hearing, and taste. In this story they target all of your senses and each one sets the mood, for example, the smell of fresh baked pastries would make you happy and feel good. The story starts off as telling you about how they make fruitcake every year and send it to friends. First they go out to gather windfallen pecans. “Caarackle” (Pg.340 P2). This quote targets your sense of hearing. The “caarackle” you can imagine
